Boards and Commissions
UPDATE: Public Meetings
Per guidelines from the Federal Government that no more than 10 people should be gathered in a room at the same time, no members of the public will be allowed to attend the Board of Supervisors, Planning and Zoning Commission or Board of Adjustment hearings in person until further notice. The meetings will be live-streamed and public comment can be provided through an online portal. Links for remote access will be posted on the calendar located on the Planning and Development home page at least 24 hours before any meeting.
Public involvement is key to ensuring responsible development. The Planning and Development Department achieves public involvement in 3 ways. First, we have several Boards and Commissions comprised of County residents who advise the Board of Supervisors on a number of planning and building issues. Secondly, the voice of residents, either in support or opposition, to various development proposals at public meetings ensures the surrounding community is integral to the decision-making process. Finally, the department holds meetings with communities and/or key stakeholders to discuss various issues relating to long-term planning and various public policy decisions.
